As one of Tuscany’s two major airports, Pisa International Airport provides excellent air transport into this popular region of Italy. More than four million travellers fly into Pisa each year to explore the Campo dei Miracoli and its leaning tower and the other attractions of the city. The peak summer travel season sells out most popular car rental models, so it’s advised to make your bookings online well in advance.
Pisa Airport is just east of the major A12/E80 motorway that runs north to south along Italy’s coast. The A11 motorway connects to the A12 from the east and the SGC Firenze-Pisa-Livorno road runs directly to the airport junction road from the east as well. The airport is just minutes from the centre of Pisa by bus, train, taxi or rental car. Much of the historic core of Pisa is off-limits to cars, but driving conditions outside of town in the surrounding Tuscany region are very pleasant.
Ten European and Italian car hire chains have offices in the Car Rentals Terminal located 500 meters from the terminal building. Take the free shuttle from in front of the Arrivals hall or walk five minutes to the rental facility.
We compare car hire from all the leading suppliers at Pisa Airport. You can compare rates and book vehicles from all ten rental firms at Pisa’s airport online in minutes, saving you time and money.
To collect your rental car at the airport bring your driving licence, another piece of picture ID like a passport and your credit card from the online reservation.
Historic Pisa is divided into four quarters, all of which contain amazing landmarks like the Leaning Tower and Duomo. This highlight of the city can only be done on foot. But a rental car will allow you to explore the beautiful countryside of Tuscany and other attractions like the towns of Lucca, Calci and Florence.
